With the start of Spring, my favourite season, you may want to change up your bedlinen. It may be time to pack away the extra throws and blankets and give your bed a mini makeover. Your bedlinen is the most important when it comes to making a Spring ready bed. Sheets are no longer an afterthought when it comes to making and styling your bed. Sheets have moved well beyond white, in fact I would encourage you to start exploring other colour palettes altogether!
You don’t have to have your fitted sheet and flat sheet all in the same boring colour. The same goes for your pillows!,Think of your bedlinen as many individual parts all coming together to create a complete harmonious look. Think shades of grey with white or grey and Indigo (one of my personal favourites), the possibilities are endless!
Spring is a season when the temperature gets warmer. Because of the rising temperatures, our sleep can get interrupted from that gross sweaty feeling whilst sleeping.
You might not know this, but sheets play vital role in getting proper sleep. For instance, if you are sleeping on polyester sheets during spring and summer you will feel like you are sleeping in a sauna. Polyester is durable but that is about all. It is not the best fabric for your bedlinen, it does not absorb moisture and is not bio-degradable.
That’s the reason why a particular selection of bed sheets can be very important according to the different seasons.
As the weather warms it’s important to have sheets that are manufactured using natural fabrics. Cotton, bamboo and linen are breathable fabrics which help to absorb moisture and allow air flow in the warmer months. Fabrics like bamboo also have amazing antibacterial and antimicrobial properties, which work to protect you as you sleep. Bamboo, as well as having some wonderful health benefits, is luxuriously soft. These unique features makes Bamboo sheets a great choice for the season of spring.
Spring is a time to dust out the old and freshen up your bed with the new. Have fun with it, it doesn’t have to cost money. Take your sheets sets and mix up the colours or add some fresh colours using your pillowcases!
Change the way you make up your bed, and it will transform your bedroom into a Spring worthy sleep space.
