Not only is your bed the focal point of your bedroom, you also spend almost half your life sleeping in it, so it makes sense to invest in a good quality mattress, the right pillows and, of course, some beautiful bed linen.
Although our beds may seem more appealing in winter, snuggled under a cosy layers of soft sheets, fluffy doonas and comfy throws with the right choice of bed linen, your bed can be just as inviting in summer.
AND with the right sheets you may even get a better night's sleep; Say goodbye to sticky, restless nights!
So, what is the best bedlinen for summer?
THE BEST BEDDING FOR SUMMER
Bedlinen is a very personal choice but one thing we all have in common; we all love good bedlinen!
Bedlinen made of natural fibers breaths more in summer and it is lovely to sleep in the warmer weather. You just need to make sure the thread count isn't high or it will be stifling! Choose cotton, bamboo
or linen bedlinen with a soft feel and lower threads count for the summer, it will allow your body to breath at night. They say about 200-400 TC is best for the warmer weather. Softness is important because your skin can be more sensitive when its warm, and scratchy bedding and sweating skin are a recipe for disastrous sleep! One of the many benefits to bamboo bedding is that it is super soft and is hypoallergenic, so it is very gentle on the skin.
BEST BEDLINEN CHOICES FOR SUMMER
• Bamboo: One of the most breathable and absorbent materials you can buy.
• 100% flax linen: like bamboo, linen is eco-friendly and kind to your skin.
• 100% cotton: If you’re not into the texture of bamboo or linen bedding, cotton is still a great option. However, always read the label carefully because often “cotton sheets” are actually a blend of microfiber and/or polyester.
Polyester is not a good fibre for summer, and microfiber is just another word for polyester!
HOW TO STYLE YOUR BED FOR SUMMER
I love a super simple bedroom for summer, I remove the duvet and just have an oversized bamboo top sheet that acts as a bed cover and falls to the floor, along with a few tonal pillowslips, to add a little extra colour and layering. I pack away the throws and the extra scatter cushions; a simple bed with beautiful bedlinen gives you the look of an exotic holiday location. Keep the styling simple, uncluttered and the bed a little undone.
SUMMER BEDLINEN COLOUR TRENDS
Earthy colours have been huge the past couple of seasons, and I believe more natural and neutral colours are the way to go for the warmer months. I really love blues and greys, they are so versatile and cooling for summer. Our Ash grey and white is a great combination for the summer seasons. Along with these, white and Indigo, or Indigo and Ash grey, are also ideal for summer.
Sweet dreams this summer with the perfect bedlinen!
